How to choose a asphalt release agent.
An asphalt release agent stops hot mix sticking to truck beds, paver hoppers, rollers, hand tools and the mixing plant, so the load slides off clean and the equipment stays usable. Modern agents are non-solvent and do not soften the asphalt, unlike the diesel that used to be sprayed on truck beds. Bitumen cleaners remove what has already stuck.

Picking the right grade
- Truck beds and pavers
- A sprayable release agent applied before loading; RENOCAST AP 2001 is a universal mineral oil-based agent.
- Mixing plants
- Hot plant surfaces need an agent with a high flash point, such as RENOCAST AP 2410, made for asphalt mixing plants.
- Cleaning
- For equipment already coated, a bitumen cleaner dissolves the residue; see the listings.
- No diesel
- Diesel dissolves the binder, damages the mix and is restricted on most projects. A release agent does the job without harming the asphalt.
