Does dielectric grease conduct electricity?

No. It is an insulator. It is applied to connectors to seal out moisture and prevent corrosion; the metal contacts cut through the film and make the connection themselves. Do not apply it where it would stop contacts touching.

Is dielectric grease the same as silicone grease?

Most dielectric greases are silicone greases, so for connectors and seals the terms overlap. Some silicone greases are sold for seals and plastics and are not tested for dielectric strength; the ones listed as dielectric are.

Which grease for O-rings in drinking water fittings?

How to choose a dielectric & silicone grease.

Dielectric grease is a non-conductive grease, usually silicone, applied to electrical connectors, spark plug boots, bulb sockets, cable terminations and charging plugs to keep out moisture and air so the contact does not corrode. It insulates; it does not improve conduction, and that is the common misunderstanding. The metal pins push through the film to make contact, and the grease seals around them.

Silicone grease does the same sealing job on rubber O-rings, seals, taps, valves and plastic parts, where a mineral grease would swell the rubber. Picking the right grade

Connectors and ignition: A silicone dielectric grease for spark plug boots, lamp sockets, trailer plugs and outdoor connectors. For EV charging plugs, the LUBRILOG Fluocor grades are made for EPDM seals and repeated connection.
Seals, O-rings and taps: A silicone grease compatible with EPDM, NBR and silicone rubber. For drinking water fittings choose a WRAS-approved grade such as RENOLIT Silicone WRAS; for beverage taps and food machinery an NSF H1 grade such as GLEITMO SIL 410 M or Castrol Optileb 2 Sil.
High current contactors: Contactors and switchgear that carry high current need a grease with extreme dielectric performance across a wide temperature range; LUBRILOG Fluostar SX 0 is listed for this.
